Singer D4vd arrested in connection with alleged murder of teen Celeste Rivas
Authorities in Los Angeles have arrested the singer D4vd in connection with the alleged murder of Celeste Rivas, the 15-year-old girl whose decomposed and chopped-up body was found in a Tesla owned by the singer.
Per ABC News, authorities said that D4vd, 21, is currently in custody, and he’s being held without bail. Sources also informed the news outlet that the singer, whose real name is David Burke, was arrested with evidence and probable cause that authorities established. The singer has, however, not been indicted.
The L.A. District Attorney’s Office will receive the case for filing consideration on Monday, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
D4vd’s attorneys released a statement after his arrest, saying that their client had nothing to do with Rivas’ murder.
“Let us be clear – the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death,” the statement said. “There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed. David has only been detained under suspicion. We will vigorously defend David’s innocence.”

Rivas’ body was found in the front trunk of D4vd’s car on September 8, 2025, after her family reported her missing in 2024. Her mother also said that Rivas was dating an individual named David, per TMZ.
The singer was on tour at the time that his Tesla was initially found in Hollywood Hills. It was then towed to an impound lot in Hollywood, where a bag containing the victim’s body parts was found inside the vehicle’s trunk. Authorities, however, did not receive any report regarding the Tesla being stolen, TMZ reported. Police have also not disclosed the identity of the individual behind the wheel of the Tesla before the authorities later gained access to the vehicle after it was found abandoned.
D4vd ultimately canceled his tour after sources informed the entertainment news outlet that the police had notified him about what was found in his car. They also said he was cooperating with authorities.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, in an initial online report after her body was found, stated that Rivas’ height was about 5-foot-1, while her weight was 71 pounds, TMZ reported. The deceased girl’s hair was also described as wavy black. The report further stated that she had a tattoo on her right index finger with the words, “Shhh…” D4vd is said to have the same tattoo on his right index finger.
D4vd is best known for his hit songs, Here with Me and Romantic Homicide. The 21-year-old singer’s debut album, Withered, was released in April 2025.
