FROM people travelling miles to access building supplies at participating hardware stores under the Government’s Restoration of Owner or Occupant Family Shelters (ROOFS) programme, to complaints about availability of supplies and concerns about how stores are selected, residents in Westmoreland, St James, and Trelawny — three of the parishes hardest hit by Hurricane Melissa — continue to face challenges as they seek to rebuild and get their lives back on track more than five months after the deadly storm. Jamaica Observer writers Horace Hines and Rosalee Wood Condell spoke to residents and operators of hardware stores in the respective parishes to hear first-hand about some of these issues.
