K. Michelle shares regrets after butt injections leak just before performance: ‘will never be fully healed’
During the 2025 ACM Honors, K. Michelle (real name, Kimberly Michelle Pate) suffered a medical emergency when her illegal silicone butt injections began leaking just moments before her scheduled performance. The dramatic incident, including the singer’s recollection of the event and the news that she would require surgery, was captured on camera.
A preview for the April 19 episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta shared on YouTube Shorts and TikTok shows the Bravo personality at a doctor’s office. She was informed that an “opening” was found at the site of a previous surgery, as reported by People.
“It looks like you have an infection,” the doctor told the 44-year-old, noting that he would have to remove any dead tissue, describing the procedure as a “reconstructive surgery.”
After the man left, K. Michelle became visibly upset, using a tissue to wipe her face. She expressed deep regret, stating, “It was the worst thing I ever did to myself,” and lamented, “I hate that I did this to myself.” She added that she has “paid for it for years.”
In a confessional shown in the sneak peek, K. Michelle recounted the alarming incident. She explained that while getting ready for her performance at the 18th ACM Honors, she stood up from a couch only to discover that it was “soaking wet.”
“I didn’t feel anything. I was completely numb,” she recounted. “I was standing there in a bathroom. Everyone was blow-drying me down. It was very frantic just to get me on stage to sing. I didn’t know what was going on with my body or my health until I even got back to the room in Nashville.”
Another YouTube preview showed K. Michelle in the hospital after her surgery. She could be seen telling her husband, Dr. Kastan Sims, that despite the terrifying experience, she is relieved to have survived.
K. Michelle had to undergo an unscheduled, two-hour surgery “to remove infected tissue related to a previous surgery,” as seen in the preview. She revealed in another confessional that the procedure was “unexpected”.

“The actual thing that has made me sick isn’t the BBL. It’s the injections that I got involving silicone,” said K. Michelle.
“The hardest thing for me was learning that no matter what I do and how many surgeries, I will never get that silicone out of my body,” she continued. “It will be forever in me. I will never be fully healed.”
Despite her hospitalization, she remains determined, stating, “I cannot let this hold me down,” and expressing that she is “ready to hit the ground running.” The clip concludes with her makeup being done by her glam team just before she is discharged from the hospital.
