Influencer family of 10 hurt after hit-and-run driver allegedly struck their van

House of Lafond, the Los Angeles-based influencer family of 10, sustained injuries after a hit-and-run driver allegedly struck their van.

Per ABC7, the Monday incident occurred on the 170 Freeway at Whitsett Avenue, and authorities are searching for the hit-and-run driver. In the aftermath of crash, firefighters responded to the scene and attended to the couple and their eight children.

“I really just wanted to get some sushi tacos,” Hashim Lafond said on a lighter note.

There was a short rainstorm when the crash occurred. “I saw a car in the rear-view mirror coming toward us at full speed,” Hashim Lafond said.

“All of a sudden, I hear and feel a boom, and then we just start spinning. And we have a 12-passenger van. That’s not something small to be spinning around in,” Johnetta Lafond added.

Their youngest child is just three weeks old, ABC7 reported.

“Imagine you’re sitting there and all the cars are just coming toward you, swerving,” Hashim Lafond also said.

The impact of the crash caused the family van to hit the median. The family eventually retrieved one of the phones in the van and called 911.

“I had a thought of, ‘Did I survive that? I’m pinching myself like, is this real?’” Hashim Lafond said.

The Lafond family have almost 500,000 followers on TikTok, and they post content about their lives on the platform. They also appear on reality television.

The injuries the family sustained from the crash were not serious, and the Lafonds are grateful that was the case. Some of their children even attended dance practice after the crash.

“I was thinking, like, ‘Should I go?’ Cause my neck hurt really bad. It hurt to turn it,” Anaiah Lanfond, 11, said.

The incident is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol. The Lafonds also posed a question to the hit-and-run driver.

“You couldn’t check on us to make sure we were OK?” Johnetta Lafond said.

The Lafonds’ family van was totaled, and they’ve reached out to their insurance to try and get a replacement.
