KINGSTON, Jamaica — A bartender has been arrested and charged with simple larceny and larceny as a servant following allegations that she failed to hand over money at a gaming shop in Clarendon.

Charged is 40-year-old Shanna-Lee Sterling, a bartender of Sevens Road, May Pen, Clarendon.

Police reports indicate that a man was at the gaming shop playing one of the machines when he won $21,000.

A ticket reflecting the winnings was printed and handed to Sterling, who allegedly instructed the man to return later to collect his cash prize, as the manager was not present to process the payment. The man reportedly returned a few weeks later after becoming concerned and made a complaint to the manager. Subsequent checks conducted by the owner revealed that Sterling had already cashed the ticket and taken the money. A report was then made to the police.

Sterling was later arrested and formally charged. A date for her court appearance is being finalised.
