Former Chick-fil-A employee accused of stealing over $80,000 with mac & cheese scheme
Keyshun Jones, a former employee of a Chick-fil-A in Texas, has been arrested and charged with stealing $80,000 using a mac & cheese scheme in what police have described as a bizarre incident.
The former Chick-fil-A employee in Grapevine, near Dallas, was reportedly fired last October. After he was fired, authorities said he entered the store, processed food orders on the register, and refunded the money to his personal credit card, according to Fox4.
Jones was arrested on April 17 after allegedly processing 800 mac and cheese orders, according to news reports. Investigators looked into a mac and cheese scheme that was uncovered after the restaurant reported numerous fraudulent refunds.
Prosecutors state that security camera footage captured Jones at the counter making the fraudulent transactions.
Court records indicate that an arrest warrant was issued on April 6.
Jones was eventually caught with the help of the Texas Attorney General’s Fugitive Task Force, which was working with the Fort Worth Police Department.
He is currently facing charges of property theft, money laundering, and evading arrest.
If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in state prison.
A similar incident took place recently, in February, after a former Little Caesars employee, Jonathon Hacket, was arrested in North Carolina for allegedly breaking into the pizza chain restaurant in Kinston twice, including once to make and sell pizzas to customers, authorities said.
The suspect, who was apparently well-known to staff, is now facing multiple charges following the bizarre break-ins.
According to the Kinston Police Department, the 41-year-old man was taken into custody following the incident at the local establishment. The arrest was made after officers responded to a report of a break-in at a local outlet of the popular national pizza chain.
According to warrants obtained by WITN, Hackett produced and sold ten pizzas, which earned him a total of $50.
