Eddie Murphy reveals his son and Martin Lawrence’s daughter welcomed a baby girl

Veteran actor and comedian Eddie Murphy recently revealed that his son, Eric, and Martin Lawrence’s daughter, Jasmin, have welcomed a baby girl.

Murphy, 65, shared the news with E! News at the American Film Institute achievement award ceremony on April 18.

“They just had a baby girl,” Murphy said. “They just had her two weeks ago, or a week ago. Yeah, Ari Skye.”

When asked for any parenting advice, the Coming to America star said, “Oh, you don’t give advice like that.” “You know, your kids don’t go by your advice. Your kids go by the example you set. They watch you.”

“The stuff you be saying, they don’t even pay that s–t no mind,” he added. “They watch and see what you do. So, I don’t give a lot of advice.”

Though Murphy said he’s not into giving any parenting advice, he emphasized that he values his achievement as a father over career success.

“My legacy to me isn’t my work,” Murphy said. “My legacy to me is my children. So, that’s my legacy.”

“This is a wonderful thing, though, to be honored,” he said about receiving the award. “I have to make movies for so, so long. So, it’s a wonderful thing to recognize because I did my thing.”

As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, Eric and Jasmin took to social media in February to announce they were expecting a baby

“Thank you Jesus for the greatest gift ❤️❤️❤️” Jasmin wrote in an Instagram post.

Eric and Jasmin tied the knot last year after dating for three years, TMZ reported. During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show last year, Murphy revealed his son and Jasmin had already tied the knot, albeit in a lowkey manner.

Murphy told the host that Eric and Jasmin “ran off and got married,” NBC News reported. “Actually they got married two weeks ago,” the Beverly Hills Cop star revealed. “They went off — everybody was making their big wedding plans, and then they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them.”

Eric and Jasmin became romantically involved in 2021, and the latter, in an interview with InTouch Weekly, revealed they did not actually meet through their celebrity fathers.

“It wasn’t even our dads, and they’ve done two movies together,” Jasmin said. “They’re friends. I don’t even know. It’s crazy. But we met through my uncle, and we became really good friends. We bonded on a lot of things. Obviously, we have similar backgrounds, so we understood each other on a certain level.”
