Authorities respond after homeless man finds missing 6-year-old boy

A homeless man who found a missing 6-year-old boy and contacted authorities said that “anybody would have probably done the same thing.”

Per WSVN, the homeless man, identified as Arnett Johnson, found the missing boy walking in the dark on the night of April 8. The boy’s mother, Annie Rivera, was later arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

“I did what I had to do, you know what I’m saying? Anybody would have probably done the same thing,”  Johnson told the news outlet.

Johnson usually sleeps in Miami’s Allapattah neighborhood, and he said he was walking in the area late at night when he noticed the boy was by himself.

“So my mind told me, the only thing I could do is call the police,” he said.

Officers with the City of Miami Police ultimately responded to the scene. The arrest report also provided details on what the 6-year-old boy said when officers responded to the scene.

Officers ultimately arrested and charged Rivera in connection with the incident.
