Festival of African Cuisine returns to London for its 3rd edition this Summer
The Festival of African Cuisine is set to return to London for its highly anticipated 3rd edition. To be hosted on Sunday July 19, 2026, at Southwest London’s Royal Horticultural Hall, the festival is celebrating the vibrant flavours, rhythms, and cultural richness of Africa. Following two successful editions since its launch, this year’s festival promises to be the biggest and most diverse yet.
Loud Africa had a brief chat with the organisers of the festival.
LA… *What’s the background of the festival?
The festival was created to celebrate the richness and diversity of African food, culture, and music. It brings together the continent’s vibrant culinary traditions with the global rise of Afrobeats, offering visitors a space where they can savour authentic flavours while enjoying the rhythms and energy of African entertainment. It is designed as a cultural bridge, a place to taste, dance, learn, and connect.
LA… *Who is the festival for?
The festival is open to everyone, welcoming people from all walks of life. It is perfect for food lovers and adventurous eaters, social butterflies looking for a lively day out, culture enthusiasts, and families with free entry for children under 7.
The atmosphere is inclusive, diverse, and community‑centred, making it a great experience for all ages and backgrounds.
LA… *When did the festival start and what is special about this year’s edition?
The festival was launched in August 2025 and in just one year it has successfully delivered two editions. This year marks the 3rd edition, taking place at the height of summer, the perfect season for outdoor food, music, and cultural celebration. This edition is special as it’s hosting over 50 vendors and representation from 30 African nations. This is the largest and most diverse lineup the festival has hosted so far.
LA… *Will there be live entertainment?
This year’s entertainment lineup is one of the festival’s biggest highlights. Sisi Yemmie, celebrity chef from Nigeria, is headlining the culinary experience. Unathi, acclaimed South African singer from Cape Town, will be performing live. Young Dr ATM is bringing energetic live music performance. There will be Afrobeats DJ sets throughout the day. A special screening of the documentary ‘Mothers of Chibok’ will add a powerful cultural and storytelling element to the festival.
