Harry Robinson, the father of the deceased lifestyle influencer Ashlee Jenae, has set up a GoFundMe to help raise funds to enable their family to return her body to the United States from Tanzania.

Jenae passed away at a hospital in Tanzania on April 10 after she was found unconscious at a resort villa the previous day, TMZ reported. The GoFundMe states that the fundraiser was set up as a “response to those asking how to help and will support travel costs, arrangements, and unexpected expenses during this time.

At the time of this report, nearly $40,000 of the $50,000 goal had been raised

Authorities in Tanzania are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Jenae’s death. Reports from local media indicate that police suspect it could be a suicide case, but her cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Jenae is said to have travelled to Tanzania with her fiancé, Joe McCann, to celebrate her 31st birthday. Authorities said that the pair initially got into a dispute, and hotel staff put them in two different rooms before she was later found unconscious.

Her family, who are now seeking answers, shared details about her trip to Tanzania and death in a statement on Sunday, Face2Face Africa reported.

“Surrounded by beauty, love, and wildlife, she became engaged during a safari, an unforgettable moment that marked the start of a future she was so excited to build,” the statement said.

Jenae’s family also said that the deceased influencer was in the company of her fiancé, and they were lodging “in a luxury villa at the Zuri Zanzibar, continuing what we believed was her dream trip.”

“But just days later, that dream turned into our family’s worst nightmare,” the statement added. “Ashly was found unconscious in her villa and was rushed to a local hospital, where her death was confirmed hours later. Nothing about this loss feels real. One moment she was celebrating love and life in truly Ashly fashion, and the next, she was gone. The suddenness, the unanswered questions, and the distance from home have made this tragedy even more overwhelming for our family.”

The statement further said that “an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ashly’s suspicious passing” has since been initiated.

“Although we have many questions, we are placing our trust in the officials in Zanzibar and are working closely with them as we seek clarity and answers,” the statement continued. “Ashly was deeply loved. She was vibrant, full of life, and had so much ahead of her. Our family is completely devastated, and we appreciate the prayers, and compassion we have received as we navigate this unimaginable loss. We respectfully ask that any information not directly provided by our family be treated as unverified and not considered factual at this time.”

Jenae’s last Instagram post was on April 5, and it is a carousel that includes photos and a video of her feeding a giraffe. One of the photos shows “HBD Ashlee” spelled with red and white rose petals on the floor.
